and BTW, my gym is SBG affiliated and SBG is RMATA affiliated, so this was sort of an RMATA event, so you can't delete it.

...but my gearbox(transmission) broke down, 35 miles from my destination. Even worse, EVERYBODY from my club won every match they had. So, I missed out on an easy victory.(albeit a cheap one) This would have been my first match in a gi and I have been sweating away for the last few weeks in the gi, preparing, when I should have just stuck to no gi. I would swear, but I know it's against forum rules. So I will post some random symbols instead. #£$%^&"£$

Isn't it illegal to use the hand to cover the nose and mouth ?

Ignore them.
It doesn't work, but that's what I do. I have at least 4 minor complaints, plus 2 majorly bad knees and I just roll through it.

Is it REALLY legal to carry that stuff in the US ? Over here you do time for carrying it.

That was a good reply. Use your smaller size to your advantage, get down low and do something from there. Takedowns, come up to clinch, maybe uppercut or throw some body shots.

In a competitive match, I would be 'diving in' HARD too, maybe give them a knee to the cojones or something. I have no problem with being 'dirty'.

If somebody butt scoots on me, I usually just dive in and pa*s from there.

I always laugh I disagree off when 'throwers' claim guard pullers are somehow inferior.
I'm the kind of BJJer who likes to be on top, so it's not like I'm defending myself, but if you really have sucha problem with the guard, maybe you need to practise more ?
If I was going against a good judoka, samboist or wrestler, bet your life, I am looking to pull guard, cos in that situation,(match or real life) that is my strength.

Thanks Vince, I believe my legs were not straight up, plus I could not get his chest close enough. This guy was strong.
To be honest, I had forgotten the fine details of the manouvre, but tried it anyway.

The only way to get around being afraid of being hit, is...........to get hit.

I, honestly, am not fussy. I'll take anything I can get and just be happy to win one, for a change.
I think there is something special about a choke, because it is a real fight finisher. People with broken limbs and high on crack cocaine may still want to continue. A sleeping or dead man won't.
