Hello all: My name is Shawn Chitwood. I finally made the jump from Bill's forum (a great thing lost). I will only post occasionally because of my demanding schedule, but I look around often. I am married to my best friend and we have two wonderful kids together (11 & 3). I have done just enough martial arts to be dangerous to myself. I look forward to participating here when I can. Shawn

Hi my name is Boyd Ritchie. Very glad to be here and have the opportunityto interact with people serious about realistic combat training. Vince is a great guy and I think his organization will put these concepts on the map. AGE= older than dirt Married, two grown kids, two grown stepchildren Job- Industrial sales Location= Buffalo NY area (I'm a transplant, I'm southern by the grace of God ) I have trained in martial arts for over 27 years and gone through 13 different styles and had the good fortune to train with some amazing instructors and ordinary people. I have a BB in Sombo, whichis my first love and what I enjoy teaching along with realistic self defense and combatives. Oh, I am also an a*sistant instructor in JKD under Tom Macaluso. I am partners with the infamous Bill Cogswell in Apex Sombo. (no one could have a better friend) Currently I am recovering from 3 major surgeries, hope to get back to work and my life starting in March. I very much look forward to getting back to teaching. In the meantime I spend too much time on forums but this is at the top of my list. Other than my MA training I love to train personal protection dogs. They are an outstanding self defense weapon My best to all. Vince, thanks for the invite.

Hi Shaolin, good to see you're still around! "Bill, I just ordered your dvd on transitioning"...which DVD is that? I have "positional escapes" and "submission chains", perhaps that (SC) is what you're thinking of. Anyhow, I hope you get some use out of it and thanks!

Hi Vince, I've only been lifting KB's for about 6 months, so I'm not sure how much I can tell you. I like the 'awkwardness', which is one of the key attributes they bring to the table. I think they are hard to beat for getting your body comfortable with awkward positions, while lifting something. The best advice I can give you, is....go to DragonDoor.com, and find an RKC Coach in your area, and book a 1 hr private, or attend a group cla*s. This way, you can get a first hand feel for them. If you're 'primary' goal is to get stronger, be more flexible, and improve your cardio, then this is just what you need. Why? Because you get all this in one package, and this is no BS! If you don't believe it, take a cla*s, and you will see very quickly! If you have any more questions I'd be glad to answer them. Danny

Hello
Name: Tyrrel John Location: Tennessee Age: 26
I have trained in a number of different things from Chinese martial arts, FMA, boxing, thaiboxing, JKD, and some BJJ. Have been looking at this forum and it looks nice. Searching around and looking at some of the other forums...some of them can be real bad as far as the attitude of "my daddy can beat your daddy up!"
I love all forms of combat but my focus tends to be on being able to defend yourself in a violent situation. So one needs to have an all around game for that. Recently been looking at the various sources of catch wrestling and it highly interest me in that it offers a wide variety of tools to use.
John

Keith, it's great to have you here man.
For those of you who don't know Keith, he is a superb athlete. He trains very hard, has great cardio, great wrestling skills, and is rediculously strong for his size. He's around 155 pound and I always have to partner him up with guys over 200 pounds with much more MMA experience than him so it is close to an even match in training. He's had his first boxing and kickboxing matches rescently and won them (on the same weekend!). You can expect to see his introduction into NHB soon.
