Hi folks - good to see so many names here from other baords I have been a part of in the past.
Kelly Palmer, age 47. Been doing Judo for 35 years on a National and International level, now a 4th Dan. I was fortunate to have some very old school instructors, and so was exposed to a judo that has largely been set aside as the currrent Judo became mostly contest oriented.
Day time - a lawyer. Teach and train at the University of ALberta Judo Club.
Looking forward to meeting you all, and renewing old acquaintances!

Welcome Kelly,
Can you make another thread (don't want to get off topic here) discussing the type of judo you were exposed to that was not sport orientated? Thanks.

HI Bill!
Vince, happy to - I've got a lot on the go right now, so it will likely take a few days. A teaser - I currently am helping to train some nationally ranked judo fighters, and while they are very skilled - and can throw me (and DO! Darn kids - no respect for age...) - its in their mind set that I find the most differences between modern sport Judo and older Judo. Stay tuned.....

Name: Mike Lindner Training Group: Grappling Concepts St. Peters and Troy. Style: BJJ with some concepts of Sambo (courtesy of J.W. Wright) Occupation: Express Scripts Escalated Call Advocate. (I'm that guy who you talk to after asking to speak to a supervisor)
I started cla*ses with JW Wright about a year ago and then I got serious about it 6 months ago. (long story short version) I'm pretty open to learning whatever I can and I know that places like Grappling Concepts and RMATA can teach any and everything out there that works. Glad to be here!

What's happening, everyone?
My name is Kyle, from the Carbondale area. I have just started training with Vince. I bring a decent (but very rusty) wrestling back ground to the game. I am training mainly for my own fulfillment, but also in hopes of maybe competing at some point in MMA fighting.
I also ride and race motorcycles competitively. Just love competition, I guess. I work in show business.
Look forward to reading more on the forum.
