Well what do ya know... they have a business center downstairs and I cant sleep!! HA!
I've had a good time chatting with Gokor, Manvel, Kenny, and the guys hanging out. It's always a good chance to hear those insider stories that are just too juicy for online forums! I'll be dead tired today but what can I do... I usually cant sleep well the night before I have to run a big event because I am thinking of 100 things I have to stay on top of and manage.

Gokor Chivichian Seminar Notes- Lexington KY- 1/21&22/06 Notes Taken by Vincent Fields (www.rmata.com)
Please note- These notes will not explain the techniques to someone who was not at the seminar. They are only intended to remind anyone who saw the technique taught which technique it is.
Day 1- With GI Bottom Guard: GI Chokes - Right hand grabs behind GI collar. Left hand goes in and grabs front of right collar, palm facing me. Scoot back; pa*s my right hand over and around his head to choke. - Gi choke “leg choke”. Left hand grabs same side GI collar. Throw left leg over his head to choke. - Opponent tries to pa*s guard by going under 1 leg. Throw it over his head and under his chin. Throw my other leg over his head deep. Crank, roll him over, armbar. - Same technique, different setup. He pulls out of an armbar- grab his other arm, switch to the same technique.
Bottom side mount: Grab arm under my near side leg. Turn one way to get to my knees. He pushes into me, roll to oma plata.
Bottom ½ guard: Thigh compression submission. Barely lock your feet, turn on your side completely, reach over and grab his far side lat or GI, pull him over your top leg and crank your legs the opposite way. It’s painful and he might submit. If not, sweep him over, go to top headward hold down.
Bottom guard: Double armbar. Go to high guard above his shoulders to catch it. If he pulls 1 out of it, triangle then take the other arm.
Go for armbar on his right arm. Sit up and over your right side to sit on both of your knees. Keep rolling over and roll him with you to an armbar.
Manvel’s technique- Kata Guruma variation (firemans carry or shoulder wheel): Get a deep underhook, sit under, grab his other leg, sit your leg completely out straight and sit back, rolling him over or to the side.
Manvel’s: Top turtle: Grab collar and belt, stick one leg through and under his stomach, roll him over to armbar.
Day 2- No GI Standing downward shoulder crank counter. Grab your own hands and pull back to reverse it. If he only bends ½ way down, step over his head to bring him down.
Standing foot sweeps: My front leg vs his front leg. Or; my front leg vs his rear. 2 ways to do this: walk one step and sweep his calf with my other foot. Or, hook his calf with my foot, jump around a few times to get into position to sweep his leg.
Standing foot sweep: Step forward with my left, step back with my right, sweep his right with my left.
Opponent shows he wants to shoot a double leg. Keep 1 hand on his head to help stuff his attempt. Push his head down with both hands and circle behind him to top turtle.
If he shoots with his head inside; face crank.
If he shoots with his head outside, bend over him, roll back and over to top mount. Or; hook his leg as I sit to finish with a kneebar. Lock my hands around his body.
If I miss the kneebar and he is holding my leg, use my leg to give him an upward shoulder crank to break his color bone.
Bottom guard: go to open guard, control 1 arm and his hips with my feet. Push his opposite side knee out and pull his arm, then take his back.
Top ½ guard. Head on his stomach. Helicopter leg over to a toehold.
Top ½ guard: Step over to told hold, roll over to my back. If he moves his leg away so you cant grab the toe hold push his leg down and throw my free leg over his for a figure 4 leglock with my legs.
Top ½ guard: Head on his stomach. Back my non-hooked knee behind his knee. Work down low on his body, grab his hips, kneebar. You can roll over on top of him or finish it on your side. Once you pop his leg open you can come back to top mount.
Drop seinage (Double knee drop/ throw)
Bottom ½ guard sweep. Pull back, roll him over you.
Bottom ½ guard: Go under his bottom leg, come out behind him.
Triangle escape: stack him, chock him with my forearm. If it doesn’t work, step over his head, fall back to escape.
Top side mount: Kimura escape. Hook my cranked arm under my same side leg, put that leg on the ground. Reach back with that my other hand to open his legs and pa*s. Fall to kneebar if you want.
Bottom side mount: Upward shoulder crank escape. Hold my hands together and surprise wristlock him.
Bottom side mount strategies and escapes (several too quick for notes)
Top side mount: With your bottom arm control their far side arm. Throat crush choke with my top arm.
Ken’s move: Top side. Upward and downward shoulder cranks. Short arm scissors. Once you hook it, walk around over his head to the same side.
Ka`ren’s move: Triangle setup. Overhook 1 arm, pull his neck down, leg go of his head and grab his wrist, control it while I put my leg in position to triangle. When triangling, if he stacks me, hook his leg and roll him over.
Manvel’s technique: Bottom guard: Going for a guillotine choke. Reach under his far arm, shoulder crank him. The best time to do this is when he stacks you up to relieve pressure from the choke.
