Well, I dropped a very close decision in another boxing match on Friday, but today, I got second place in the Third Semi-Annual Ippon Judo Tournament in Atlanta, GA. Going back to being a multidiscipline fighter, I made the mistake of allowing myself to be thrown in one of those throws that will get you a 1/2 point and keeps you on the opponent's back, to get the rear naked choke. Of course, you are only allowed 20-25 seconds on the ground, so if you don't sink it in quickly, you get stood up and your opponent still has 1/2 point (1 point, or ippon, is victory). I was guilty of not sticking my mind fully into judo rules!! Oh well, judo rules are weird, anyway!

Philip,
Way to get in there and compete. It's all about the great experience, learning and improving due to it, and having fun. Keep up the willingness to compete and test what really works.

I admire anyone who has the heuvos to compete, I love to train, but I have an insane time competing. I think I lost 10 pounds before I did Copa Pacifica. I was so stressed for a week in advance that I wasn't eating or sleeping. The whole thing was exausting for me. Some people are born competitors, then you have people like me, chicken!! Good job!!
