with your experience in mixed martial arts, instruction, and seminar sponsorship, i thought you might have some insight.
as i communicated to you a few weeks ago, i intend to host my grandmaster in serrada escrima in the very near future. the instruction that i provide has been for the most part private, without a great deal of public exposure. expense of rent for a studio, as well as the depth of weapons shys me away from the normal avenues i would approach, such as children as when i taught tae kwon do.
additionally, i have hit numerous roadblocks when i speak to instructors in TKD or karate. for the most part they are unwilling to hear what i have to present or just simply ignore technique i attempt to show them. moreover, a lack of disrespect because we do not wear a belt or sash to acknowledge level of competence. i simply have certificates and the skills that accompany them.
any advice toward getting thru would be helpful. as i remarked before, monetary gain is not as important as is the furthering of serrada escrima.
i appreciate your time and consideration.
respects, guro mike schwarz

Mike, This could be a very long conversation that would be best in person with some time to go into all of the details. I'm sure we could discuss this for quite some time. You can give me a ring at (edited) if you'd like to talk on the phone about this stuff.
I could'nt do this subject justice in type without writing much more than I'm willing to sit down and type right now. Lets meet in person or talk on the phone. Better yet you should come join me and a few like minded guys for some training and discussion afterwards over lunch.
For a quick answer, the ma*ses will never get the truth and thats just the way it is. You just have to be honest to yourself foremost... and most traditional martial artists are not. When actual combat is involved in training then there is no room for BS. Egos, attitudes, politics, belts, philosophies, rank, and everything else but what really works in combat flies out of the window. Amazingly the majority of the martial arts comunity never experiences the "martial" in martial arts (martial meaning combat). Without allowing theirselves to be fought back against 100% they can remain in their imaginary world of comfort where they are their own martial arts hero... or at least where they can try to make others think that. All you can do is shine your light.... shine your light... shine your light! If you know the truth in regards to combat or anything else then you are in the minority and you will encounter much opposition if you try to share that truth with others.
I dont "reach out" too much anymore to try and convince others of whats real. If they do realistic training then they will see... if not then I wish them the best of luck as they go on their merry way. Realistic training, fighting, and competing are fires that burn away unnecessary elements and only leave what is pure and hardened. There's too many people out there that do know what really works and want to train and learn in a way that yields real world results with regards to fighting ability to waste your time on those that dont and are too closed minded to step out of their comfort zone and find out.
I'll post this exchange on the RMATA forum so other members can chime in with their 2 cents!
