I made a very small payment (4 kids and it's Christmas time so I'm tapped out financially) but I hope it helps.

Wow! I can't believe he is like that and I think maybe a few more a*s kickings from you are in order! Is he like the only martial arts place around or something? I can't understand how people are paying to go to a man like that.

"So yesterday, we get there and he has us doing all of these strength exercises like Mountain Climbers and "Under the fence" push ups, (what he calls Hindu push ups) and squats and lunges, then we roll out for about 30 minutes." That's typical with lots if instructors. They try and wear the students out with exercises, let them roll with each other until everyone looks beat and then says "let's roll". Good work Eric, just remember to be respectful to him and the cla*s while simultaneously teaching him a little lesson. LOLOL

"as I've been working like mad on my thesis"
This certainly is a first priority! Good luck Vince, not that you'll need it!

Fred, this forum doesn't have that option or rather it does but it is labeled as "50 most recent posts" which can be found right under the "Forum Statistics" section bottom left of the main screen.

I love Aso's material! His Submission Bible is amazing and his 100 Submission Arts is great as well. You can often times find the Submission Bible on eBay and Aso has 2-3 other DVD's on www.budovideos.com.

Catch is basically amateur wrestling (High school/College wrestling) plus submissions. The differences I have found are in the overall gameplan. Whereas Jiu-Jitsu is the gentle art Catch focuses more on causing as much pain and discomfort as possible from the beginning to the end of a match. Also as in wrestling Catch practitioners focus on staying off their backs rather than working from there. If a Catch guy gets stuck on the bottom he immediately tries to escape, even if bottom guard position is where he ends up. I don't think it's any better or worse than BJJ (for example) but I have learned plenty from both. I prefer the Catch game as it most fits my own game (for no jacket submission wrestling anyhow) and personal style. I also feel Catch transfers to real self defense better than most other grappling arts. Anyhow, the submissions are slightly different as well as compared to JJ. I know people think an armlock is an armlock but there are differences in application from Catch to JJ. Cecchine's Catch Wrestling is representative of his own style of Catch. There are other good materials out there on Catch as well such as Fujiwara's "Submission Master" DVD set from www.scientificwrestling.com and Hidetaka Aso's material which can be found on www.budovideos.com. Those are my thoughts on it anyhow but everyone will have different tastes and motives to train so what's gold to one may be tin to another.

I have made a webpage locator for Catch Wrestling Clubs for those who either train at a Catch Club or would like to find one. Catch Wrestling training is difficult to find and partners who train in CACC are sparse so this will give people who are truly interested in it some possible choices. You don't need to have been trained by Farmer Burns or Frank Gotch to get listed on the page. As long as you have a location and a group that truly trains Catch Wrestling you may have your club listed. If anyone here is interested in being listed just let me know. Here is the page: www.catchwrestling.net/
