It is amazing what some people buy into. This guy clearly needed a reality check!

Well guys, I put up a good effort, but lost with 20 seconds left in the last round. My cardio was good, but I made a few small mistakes that my opponent capitalized on. I also missed by a hair on a few follow up punches after rocking him with straight rights and right crosses. Had those connected, things would have been very different, I think. Eventually, he got my got my back and I couldn't shake him. He was landing quite a few shots to the side of my head, but I blocked many of them. I just couldn't get out. It was was a battle, though and a great learning experience. Thanks, Keith, for working my corner, man! My face is well battered, LOL. Looks awful but it didn't hurt then and doesn't hurt now, though my neck is stiff as heck!!!

TWO WEEKS until fight night! I have been sticking to my nutritional program with great results. I have dropped 16 pounds in three weeks, and I can hardly notice. I never believed in "cutting weight" quickly, but I did need to shed a few lbs, and now I can legitimately fight at 205. I am just keeping it simple, avoiding unused calories and maintaining a balance between proteins, carbs and fats. I have also cut out red meat for a while. I feel great and my strength has not suffered at all. In fact, I feel stronger all the time. I still have my well crafter gut, but I am not sure I want to lose that anyway, chicks dig it If anyone is interested in going up there, let me know. I am goign to need some help in the corner!

Ok, so I talked to the guy tonight. It sounds like he has an opponent for me, so that's cool. He is also looking for someone 195-205 lbs with a few fights experience to face a guy who is 3-3.

I spoke to the promoter today (Sat Aug 11). He said his card was pretty full, but he might have someone he can match me up with. Another 205lb guy with limited experience. I told him to let me know ASAP. We'll see, I guess...

That's a good point. Going all out might be difficult between buddies. I guess it happens, though, especially at the highest levels. At some point someone is going to HAVE to fight a buddy. Has anyone here ever been in that situation.
I realize this has turned into something other than an "Events" post, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Yeah, that's true, events all over the place.
The idea of going to an event together is awesome! I am definitely down for that! Wes and Richard made great corner men, maybe we can get them to come, too! Hell, I am like you, I think we should get a handful of RMATA fighters together. It's always cool to see the teams/groups at these things. We have enough guys to do it for sure.
I was talking to a guy who coaches up in Canada, he said he encourages his fighters to compete against in each other in thier first competition. At first it sounded odd, but he explained that adapting to the conditions (lights, new cage environment, screaming fans, ect...) was one challenge, facing an unknown opponent was another. His idea was that gettign over one challenge in your 1st fight will make your 2nd fight more of a positive expereince.
I am not sure I agree with it, but it is an nteresting idea. What do you guys think?
Oh, and Keith, right? Sorry is Diamond is NOT Keith. What is your current weight/record, just curious.

I was hoping to fight on this night, but I have been on the road alot lately and have not really been training much. It is a good experience, though. I had a blast and learned a lot from my first fight in June. I want to compete again soon, for sure. Maybe over in Missouri, seems like there are more frequent events there.

Thanks, Keith! My first fight was a great learning experience and a heck of a good time. I really wanted to see how these events are run and what is expected of fighters. As far as the fight itself, I was a little nervous about fighting someone with so much more expereicne than myself, but I just tried to stay calm, breath and stick to my game plan. Fortunately, things went well for me.
I have to sya thanks to Vince, Kyle, Richard, Wes, Clay and all the guys that have been helping me. It has been a great time so far and I am sure it will only get better.
Oh, and it is TOTH. No worries, Keith! Thanks for the tips before my bout!!

Yeah, Chuck has a decent chin and great take down defense for sure. His sprawl is awesome. He also has killer leg kicks, but he doesn't use them much for some reason. His style is VERY risky, and he has gotten away with it for so long because of his solid power, but a smart striker can see right through his defense. Most guys have tried to make a ground fight out of their bouts with Chuck, unsuccssfully. Rampage kept is simple and beat Chuck where he was weak, in the head!

Hi Joseph!
How tall are you, what do you weigh? I might have a few options for you as far as finding people to train with. Are you going to be taking cla*ses from Vince as well?

Gettign away is always the best way to keep from getting hurt! I think a solid "escape" ability is critical. Sometimes there is no escape and you will have to use your other skills, though. When I was younger we used to run through the park, chasing each other over all the "toys" (obstacles). We would not wrestel until one of us was caught. Man it was a great work out. I would not last 5 minutes doing that now I bet!

What's happening, everyone?
My name is Kyle, from the Carbondale area. I have just started training with Vince. I bring a decent (but very rusty) wrestling back ground to the game. I am training mainly for my own fulfillment, but also in hopes of maybe competing at some point in MMA fighting.
I also ride and race motorcycles competitively. Just love competition, I guess. I work in show business.
Look forward to reading more on the forum.
