Hey Keith,
There is no time limit for gaining levels. Once someone can satisfy all of the requirements of a particular level then they are that level! However to be able to satisfy the sparring requirements for the higher levels they will naturally have to have done alot of training/ conditioning.

Guys, just a quick update/ FYI.
Right now we are sort of in "limbo" with the curricumum not being out and all of the chartered schools waiting on it. Once it is up and posted on the website then all chartered schools can begin training it. Once it is released on DVD the RMATA is really going to grow. For now, just make sure you and your students are doing lots of live sparring and grappling in all ranges of combat, trying to work up to as many straight 3 minute rounds with 1 minute breaks as possible, so when it comes time to test for rank it will be a cinch.
The curriculum will be released asap.

Hey Rex,
Anything I might say about my instructional material could be considered biased. Check out the reviews section of the main website and you'll see a lot of reviews of my leglock tape there. Yes, it covers many counters and escapes in detail.

Hey Rex, No, they are very different than the WSF. 10 levels seems to be a common ranking system #. The colors are actually a little different than the WSF. The RMATA belt colors are like some common belt color systems; namely BJJ and Judo. The system is designed to be well rounded in all ranges of combat. It is not just a sambo system at all, although there are sambo techniques in it. Go to this link for membership information; www.rmata.com/members.html

Hi folks, I have just rescently discovered "ear candleing". You stick these specially made candles through a hole in a paper plate, then put the small end in your ear (all under supervision), light it, and they suck crazy amounts of wax out of your head. I kid you not, a good 3 inches came out of each ear the first time I did this! The directions say that many people do 3 candles per session per ear, and one session per week! My wife did the same thing and huge amounts came out of her ears 2 candles in a row! My ear and inside of my head feels alot "clearer" as would be expected, and I can hear better. My wife says they make her alergies and sinuses alot better. I just wanted to spead this little discovery on so you too can ejoy the results. This isn't advertising for me... I don't make a dime off of this. Here is a link where I buy them; www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007D7HII/103-7567979-0308601Here is a rather gross pic of one I just did. All of the dark stuff in the middle of the cut opened candle is ear wax! The piece to the right is a burned end of the candle. Ya'll have got to try these!!

Hey folks, thanks for stopping by and checking out the site. I've been teaching the SIUC Martial Arts Club from 1/99 till now, and I'll be moving on soon. I'm finishing my master's and will soon be done running the club for the school. Hopefully the club will find a new president to take the reigns soon. I'll still be teaching privately and in seminars with the RMATA, as well as training with my instructors and private groups.
While your here say hello and feel free to post any questions, comments, etc. I hope you enjoy the new site and message board. Have a good time while your here and hopefully this can be a place we can all learn from each other and keep in touch. God bless!
