*Endorsment here* If ya'll havent gotten Vince leg lock video get hot.....Its got some awesome stuff on it.
I subscribe to Grappling Mag as i usually read it I look at the pic like everyone else and see whats going on.
Not to start a fight or say anything bad about anyone's art but I always giggle at the BJJ guys and their attempt at leg locks. What makes it worse that the usually win by them.
Seen many a picture that shows really "loose" kneebars or standard ankle locks and the win by them. If you seen Vince's tape you'd understand what I mean.
Dont get me wrong everyone has to start somewhere.
Which leads me to the next question for Vince,
When someone has a really tight kneebar on you I mean like the one you do..with heel on your butt etc.... I guess from guard as you spin around and sit on their guts and you fall back into the kneebar you can reach their knee to break the hold. And you your butt is too cose to the the hip so they can use the leg to push you off. How would you get out of that?

Rex,
Thanks for the compliment man. You'll like the new leglock DVD even better I think, and I show some kneebar counters on it that go over the situation your asking about.
I have seen some BJJ guys with some amazing leglocks... although stereotypically that is certainly not their speciality. Take one that crosstrains though and they can get great leglocks with the strengths of BJJ as well. Guys like Rigan Machado, JJ Machado, and Erik Paulson are great at BJJ and great with leglocks as well. That is why it's so important to be well rounded... to train in and learn anything that works from anybody. Start mixing things like BJJ, Sambo, Judo, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Kali, and you get a toatally different animal. Test it all with real fighting and the truth will come out.
About your technical question on how to escape a tight kneebar, that sounds like something easier to go over in person in a little Q and A session. I'll shoot a brief reply at ya though. The first way to get out of it is to tap out, haha. Next to that, I'd say dont get caught in a tight kneebar in the first place, which requires some technical know how and quick reflexes. However, once your caught and not yet being injured getting that top side arm of yours under their top side knee is the easiest way to relieve pressure from a kneebar, and at that point the counter submissions open up for you. Hopefully we can go over this in person sometime to properly address the issue.

Vince
I hear you... I didnt mean all BJJers...Like me.. I started grappling late in life...27.... but its in my nature to ask andquiz things..... Erik, Rigan, all those guys are great leglock guys but I was just saying those that refuse to see the light......
Like I said before dont get me wrong I love BJJ but I love Sambo as well. Lets not forget Muay Thai.....
Like I said before it was just something I noticed...just an observation. Vince my bro keep up the good work.

Your right Rex... those that refuse to see the light.... they are dooming theirselves.
The truth in anything is like a light. If you happen to know that truth, all you can do is shine that light as brightly as possible. Most people cant ignore it. The truth changes them. They see it and must react to it, like a light on their path. The ones that see it and ignore it d**n themselves, but I'm not worried about them as there are enough folks willing to be changed by the light to keep us busy for a lifetime.

Leglocks are without a doubt making their way into every grappler's arsenal. My brother is a blue belt and he once tapped a very good black belt with a toe hold. Of course, the black belt has tapped him hundreds of times and this is certainly not to say that my bro is better, it is just an endorsement to the effectiveness of a properly applied foot/leg lock. Vince's instructional is a great source of information and I highly reccomend it.
