Greetings All!
I just wanted to drop a note to everyone, and say thanks to Vince for helping alot of us get to be members of a good group of Martial Artists. I am a full time Police Officer, and I also Own and Operate a small school known as the Grapplers Guild in Burlingame, Ks. We are a small group of people who like to "Roll", and continually work on the Basics of Grappling and other Martial Arts Styles. We also have been training in Renzoku Jiu-Jitsu for those who are looking for a more organized approach to basic self defense and ground grappling techniques. You are all welcome to come out and visit if you ever come through Kansas. We are hoping to see the RMATA videos soon, and will keep working on our Martial skills. We are also into Sambo, and use alot of BJJ style techniques in our Club. Well, stop by the website and say hi!

Jeff - Full time LEO here too. I was wondering if your agency has an ongoing DT curriculum, and if so how you guys got over some of the red tape to get it started. Just curious.

To get around the red tape is pretty simple. Just do it on your own time, and in your own place. Our agency actually does not have too much policy regarding our training and our DT. We are expected to use the Use of Force Continuim and abide by that concept. Jeff Brown

Hi Jeff,
Nice to see another LEO on the boards. We don't have much in the way of formalized DT instruction either. That's one major reason why I decided to create a small club like yours. Everyone that comes to train is there because they want to be there, not because they have to be there.
Hope to meet you at an RMATA function sometime in the future.

Thanks guys, Currently in a small training group myself. We have a couple of LEO's in the group so we get to apply our stuff to the job as well.
A certain type of person is drawn to this kind of training. Unfortunately, not everyone in law enforcement is this type of person. Some may need to be pushed to train more than others. I'm looking for a way to motivate others to get involved as well as get the higher ranking officers to recognize that we need this training, equipment, man hours, etc. etc.
Preaching to the choir, but thanks guys... Johnny tac364@yahoo.com

Hey Jeff,
Steve Crawford here, Get down here to KC soon. I will be in Topeka on Sept. 11 or 12 to do some fights. I will have about 4 to 5 guys fighting on the card. The fights will be where you all have your hockey games.
