I'm a mma fighter. I enjoy the front headlock position. Other then a basic head snap or catching it off a failed shot does anyone have any suggestions on obtaining the position. Maybe even some training tips to make my headsnap stronger.
Thanks

hey jcross, this is just a suggestion for what works for me. i also train for mma and have a wrestling background, so naturally i enjoy the frontheadlock position too. I don't know if this is the correct way of going about it or not, but i've found that for me the safest and most effective way of obtaining the front headlock is with the headsnap you mentioned in your post. I prefer to snap the head down after i've obtained a full thai clinch (a*suming i can't finish him from that position standing). The thing that makes this technqiue effective for me is that i take a considerable drop step back with my right leg (setting him up for a big knee) and as soon as i see his arm come up to defend the knee, WHAM i sprawl back hard and put all my weight down with my chest on his upper back while at the same time securing the front headlock position. I hope this helps you out, and sorry for the lengthy response. If you have any questions or I was unclear in my explanation, don't hesitate to message me back.
